Godolphin runner Hauraki remains an outright $5.50 favourite in 2016 Epsom Handicap betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Palentino and McCreery; currently sharing the second line at $6 quotes.

Will Hauraki justify favouritism and win the 2016 Epsom Handicap, or will one of his classy rivals post an upset?

1st

Hauraki ($5.50)

Hauraki has returned to racing in typically slick form this season and should prove extremely tough to beat when he lines up for the Epsom Handicap. Several times placed at the highest level of racing, the Reset gelding resumed this time for a dominant win over talented company in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) before running second behind Winx in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) last time out. Drawn well in barrier 10, Hauraki will be partnered by leading Godolphin hoop James McDonald and should have no issue performing with only 56kgs in tow.

2nd

Mackintosh ($10)

Mackintosh has returned to racing in particularly slick form this time and is more than worth consideration for a bet at his current 2016 Epsom Handicap odds. Posting six race wins through only nine career starts so far, the Pins gelding was a standout for Waller through the recent Brisbane Winter Carnival; winning both the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) and Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) most notably. Having savaged the line for success in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) first-up this time, Mackintosh will relish a step-up to 1600m, is drawn ideally and will carry only 52kgs.

3rd

Sons Of John ($16)

Sons Of John will carry winning form into the Epsom Handicap and is over the odds at his current quote of $16, or $4.70 to place. Third placegetter in the Epsom after Winx in 2015, the Oratorio gelding ran sixth in the Tramway Stakes first-up this time before storming home to win the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) a fortnight ago. Sons Of Johns should find a good position from a wide draw and will carry only 53kgs.
