2013 Epsom Handicap Named As Sizzling’s Spring Aim

The Group 1 Epsom Handicap is due to run at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday October 5, 2013.

The race is worth $500,000 in prize money and is run over a distance of 1,600 metres.

The 2013 Epsom Handicap will take place under open handicap conditions and is open to horses aged three-years-old and upwards.

Scheduled to run as part of Epsom Handicap Day, the race shares its program with the Group 1 The Metropolitan, Group 1 Flight Stakes, Group 2 Premiere Stakes, Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes, Group 3 Craven Plate, Listed Dulcify Quality Handicap, Listed Breeders’ Plate and Listed Gimcrack Stakes.

Sizzling’s main aim for the spring carnival is set to be the 2013 Epsom Handicap.

The four-year-old entire has won seven of his 17 race starts and has earned more than $1.28 million in prize money during his horse racing career.

Sizzling’s most recent race was in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap, where he finished seventh of 18 runners.

Prior to that, he won the Group 2 Queensland Guineas at Eagle Farm Racecourse on June 1, 2013.

Sizzling is trained by Kelso Wood at Eagle Farm and will be looking to compete in his second spring campaign.

Since returning to work, Sizzling has taken part in one barrier trial, which he won on August 6, 2013.
