2010 Epsom Handicap Early Preview

August 10th, 2010

As part of a bumper Sydney Spring Racing Carnival meeting, Royal Randwick will host six Group races on Saturday October 2 including the $500,000 Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m).

All the weight-for-age Sydney gallopers and a number of interstate and even international runners are always amongst the Epsom Handicap final field making it one of the best races to enjoy a Ladbrokes.com.au wager on.

With the Australian Jockey Club (AJC) increasing the prizemoney on offer for the Epsom Handicap from $350,000 to $500,000 for the 2010 edition of the race, the quality of runners is sure to be higher than ever before giving punters plenty of top betting options.

Already a number of exciting prospects are preparing for a run in the 2010 Epsom Handicap including the in-form Queenslander Fifteen Carat, the Kerry Parker-trained Brilliant Light and Lonhro gelding Sainthood.

The 2010 Epsom Handicap is one of four Group 1 races headlining the cracker race card at the meeting, giving punters the biggest day of betting at Sydney during spring.

The other elite level races on the day are the $400,000 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m), $400,000 The Metropolitan (2400m) and the $400,000 Flight Stakes (1600m).

Nominations for the 2010 Epsom Handicap close on Monday September 27 after which the Epsom Handicap final field of acceptances will be announced and published here on Wednesday September 29.
